"Tate-do" (殺陣度・たてどう) is a well known form of sword fighting, most commonly used in Samurai movies and television dramas both in Japan and abroad. Whist mainly used for stage combat, "Tate-Do" is a fully structured martial art that teaches balance, speed, agility and spatial awareness as well as requiring mental and physical discipline.

"Tate-do" literally means The art of the killing circle. The "Circle" in question being the circular motion of the sword as it is moved, which in turn defines a circular zone around the martial artist for both defense and attack.

"Tate-do" at Toho Entertainment is not just for people who are looking to act on stage or screen. It is also for people who wish to take up the art as a hobby or form of exercise for the mind, body and soul. It is also a experience in Japanese etiquette, culture and customs.
